The product poses a chemical risk because it contains 11% by weight of bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and 34% by weight of di-“isononyl” phthalate (DINP). The eraser is attractive to children, who may use it as a toy. According to the Chemical Restrictions Directive 76/769/EEC, certain phthalates in toys are prohibited.
Action Taken:
Withdrawal from the market and recall from consumers ordered by the authorities.
