Type/number of model: The recall concerns models that have metal inserts in order to make them compatible with "low-tech" ski touring bindings.
Description: The recall concerns:
1. Sole pads for Salomon Quest ski touring boots, and
2. Quest ski touring boots supplied with the recalled sole pads.
The sole pads have visible steel inserts intended to make them compatible with a specific type of ski touring binding, commonly referred to as a â??low-tech binding". The products concerned were manufactured between October and December 2009.
Country of origin: Romania
Danger:
Injuries
The product poses a risk of injuries because in certain circumstances, when used with "low tech" ski touring bindings, the toe portion of the pad fails to fit securely to the binding, causing the binding to release unexpectedly and potentially causing the skier to fall.
One accident reported.
Action Taken:
Voluntary withdrawal from the market and recall from consumers by the manufacturer.
