Item Description:

Brand: Hewlett-Packard and Compaq Type/number of model: Lithium ion battery used with various Hewlett-Packard and Compaq notebook:

- HP Pavilion: dv2000, dv2500. dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500 and dv9700,

- Compaq Presario: A900, C700, F700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500 and V6700,

- HP Compaq: 6720s,

- HP: G6000 and G7000.

The notebook computers themselves are not subject to the recall action.

All affected packs will have a CT coding that includes the following sequences where ^ can be any letter A-Z or number 0-9. Not all packs that include one of these sequences are subject to the recall. Verification of the complete code by HP is required 62940^^AXV^^^^ 65033^^B7U^^^^, 65033^^B7V^^^^, 65033BGU^^^^ 65035^^B7U^^^^, 65035^^B7V^^^^, 65035^^BGU^^^^, 65035BGV^^^^ 67059^^V8U^^^^, 67059^^V8V^^^^ Description: There are three different battery pack designs, each of which is compatible with a subset of the listed notebook computers. The date code is embedded in a code printed on an adhesive label affixed to the inner surface of the battery pack located as shown in the images provided per section 11. (The battery pack must be removed from the notebook computer to allow access to this label.). The vast majority of affected battery packs will have been included with the models of notebook computer to which they belonged. These notebook computers were last placed on the market around March 2008, and it is very likely that all packaging will since have been discarded. Images of the notebook computer packaging are no longer available.

Danger:

Fire and burns

The product poses a risk of fire because the batteries can overheat, posing a risk of fire and burn hazard, and possibly contusion or cut. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standards EN 60950.

Action Taken:

Voluntary recall from consumers by the manufacturer.
